Mark Atwood is an author and practitioner of the ancient Religion of the Sun, which is his indigenous spiritual tradition. He uncovered the ancient Religion of the Sun together with his wife Lara in 2013. He is co-author of the books Ancient Solstice (2021) and The Spiritual Out-of-Body Experience (2024).
He has dedicated his life to his own spiritual journey, and writes from decades of metaphysical practice and experience. Mark’s experience is helping to make sense of the deeper, spiritual meaning of the symbols, texts, and practices of the Religion of the Sun, which is enabling it to be reconstructed. It was also because of this experience that he and Lara were able to recognize and uncover it in the first place.
Mark descends from some of the first settlers of Britain, who helped build many ancient megalithic sites aligned to the sun, as well as those Indo-Europeans who migrated into the British Isles over 4,500 years ago, who practiced an ancient form of sun worship.
He lives in seclusion and is not involved in the public in order to devote himself to his spiritual journey, though continues to write. He is married to Lara Atwood.
